If your faith hasn’t been tried and tested, is it truly faith?

“And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am. And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.”

‭‭ Genesis‬ ‭22:1-2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

God promised Abraham a son. Abraham waited and when he finally got the son God promised him, Isaac, God told him to prepare to sacrifice him. (I know that sounds terrible but if you don’t read and understand the Bible then you don’t know or understand God, so you wouldn’t understand) but the question is will you obey God if he commands you to sacrifice?

“And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.”

‭‭ Genesis‬ ‭22:13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Abraham having total trust in God, obeyed God and prepared Isaac to be a sacrifice and right when he was about to slay him, God stopped him and instead provided a ram in a bush for a sacrifice instead.

You don’t know where your faith is until it has been tested. Most people can’t speak on it because they haven’t ever truly been in that position. If you haven’t been backed into a corner where no man or person can do ANYTHING to help you or rescue you, then your faith hasn’t been tested. If you haven’t been in a position where only God can rescue you, then your faith hasn’t been tested . I realize money struggles are real, but I am not talking about not having money. I am talking deeper than that. I am talking about being in a self defeating raw emotional/mental state. I am talking about battling your own negative thoughts which appear to be winning most of the time. I’m talking about feeling trapped in your own mind and being held captive to your own thoughts but still being obedient and trusting God.

“And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.”

‭‭ Genesis‬ ‭22:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It’s not until you are backed in a corner with absolutely no way out AND you still choose to trust God, knowing he’s going to provide. Believers know nothing is impossible for Him but just because he can, doesn’t mean he will. Let me clarify, God will do what he sees fit, but not what always what we deem as fit. That’s trusting God. You also can’t fully trust God if you already see your way of escape or you see your way out. That’s not faith. Faith is the evidence of things unseen. God does his best work when you completely surrender to Him and remain in a posture/position or mindset of “God whatever you do or don’t do in my situation, I will accept and continue to trust you.” So just remember if or when God asks you to “slay your son” metaphorically or when God requires a true sacrifice from you, be obedient, for he will ALWAYS make provision. When God commands you to sacrifice don’t start questioning why, just keep your eyes open for your ram in the bush♥️.
